Communities Partnering with Western Mass Saves

Living green and conserving resources may seem like an individual effort, but many towns and organizations are taking it upon themselves to educate and inform their members in an effort to partner with their residents on overall energy efficiency. Two recent examples of towns working with their residents to maximize home
energy reductions are the Western Massachusetts towns of Amherst (http://www.amherstma.gov/ ) and Bernardston (http://www.town.bernardston.ma.us/ ). They are working with their residents through a partnership with Western Mass Saves. This partnership will give another strong tool to each town to encourage and help each individuals who wants to save money and make a difference.  Each town
has a partner page on Western Mass Saves (www.westernmasssaves.com ) where
they can track their exact energy reduction, cost savings, carbon savings and other benefits.
These towns are clearly showing that community leadership should not just be interested in town energy savings, but residential energy savings as well. This leadership should prove to be a key factor toward town-wide energy reductions and hopefully will be a model across all of Western Massachusetts.
